It’s going to be a fun month of portraits at SPC, with the topic of FOOD to nibble on. I was browsing old photos tonight and found this one, taken months ago at the MOMA in San Francisco. It captures the essence of meal time in our family, which is to say that it captures For eating, Chas wiggling, and my gazing at the bones of the pizza that Ford probably won’t finish.

Eating what my kids leave behind: story of my life! Well, with my eldest and youngest, that is… because with my middle boy, I’m just “not allowed”! He goes crazy if anybody eats his leftovers!!!
don’t even ask if i eat my child’s food! she hovers over her plate now she’s so tired of mama samplin’ and well, i think i’d be able to lose those last 7 lb. if i stopped. (=

Wow! I’ve never heard anyone else call them pizza bones. My children always eat the bones because that is what they teethed on. Too funny. I found when I stopped eating the “leftovers” I lost weight. It’s a Mother’s perogative.
yes, I remember eating my kids left overs. Except for my son ‘s – he inhaled his food, every last drop. And he’s still skinny as the proverbial bean pole.

I never eat the leftovers, I’ll give them to the dogs or throw them out. I’ve heard too many stories of women putting on weight this way so I just never started. Plus, for some reason they’re usually not appealing to me.

Depends. If it’s something particularly tasty and it’s not too, uh, toddlerized, then their two plates basically comprise my dinner. Sometimes, though, the two year old does such disgusting things with her food that I can’t even consider it.
