Jolene’s Nursery

I started messing around in Pages tonight and threw all sorts of pretty things together for Jolene’s nursery. On purpose I avoided Etsy–not sure I can handle the overwhelming array just yet. Those fabric swatches in the bottom right will become her quilt; the knitted thing on the left is her blanket that I’ve been working on; the throw pillows, rug; crib bedding and mobile are all from the Land of Nod; the lamp is from Ikea; the chair is off Craigslist; the animal cards are already in the room; and my friend Cynthia is giving us her old crib. Score!

School is back in session and the transition has been difficult for Ford. At the end of the second week I believe everyone’s support of him is winning his trust. A great school makes a huge difference, but individuals are also independently reassuring him the world is not out to get him. It’s tough being 8.

Chas is enjoying the first grade at the new school. I’m crazy lucky.

So I’ve been liberated the past few days enough to feel creative energy bubbling up from within again, and I can’t lie, it’s fantastic.
